David’s Electric Car Blog

I looked at this electric car in a new green vehicles website?

and I like to know if I can use it and import it to the USA and Canada?
This is the car:

"11.7 Neither we nor our affiliates make any representation that materials on this website are appropriate or available for use in locations outside the United Kingdom, and accessing them from territories where their contents are illegal is prohibited. Those who choose to access this website from other locations do so on their own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws."

If the thing has not been tested to comply with CMVSS (For Canada) and FMVSS (for the US) then, nope, you won’t be able to drive it here.

Why not use the "Contact us" link on their website and ask them?

Why are Holden, Mitsubishi, and more making new cars running on fuel, instead of more electric cars?

I hope they make more electric cars instead of new models that runs on fuel..

Because electric cars are useless for long distance driving. Until you can build an all electric car that will go over 400 mile in a single charge at 70 mph and then recharge in 10 minutes or less who would buy them other than city folks?

Looking for a Govt. Grant to purchase an New Electric Car.?

Please tell me where to find the right grants to apply for. Please no member ship sites as grants are free and so is the application.

No such grants — otherwise everyone will be buying electric cars, which you obviously know is not true

You can go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov - these are two FREE sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any grant that would support your purposes.

There’s none

Is anyone else confused about the big deal over the new Volt electric car, when GM already built the EV1?

It just seems to me like they’re pretending the EV1 never happened! If you’ve seen "Who Killed The Electric Car" you’ll know what I mean. I just feel like all the new hype is ridiculous.

They’re pretending the EV1 never happened because they want your tax money (not mine - because I don’t pay taxes) to help them build more Volts…research it…GM and FORD was awarded money from congress to make a transition they should have made years ago - like the japanese automakers did - they moved to more fuel efficient vehicles in which the American companies refused to do!

This means I’m definitely and will continue not to buy from the American companies - they’ve lost my respect because obviously they’ve lost their competitive edge and should go under because of it.

Do you think the new Aptera car will have an impact on global warming?

At a purported 300 mpg, this new electric car would greatly reduce gasoline consumption for the average commuter. The price range is reportedly somewhere between $25k and $40k. Do you think this could make a measurable impact?

http://www.aptera.com/

Not measurable. All of human caused CO2 to date has raised temperatures a fraction of a degree at most. You could eliminate cars and it wouldn’t be measurable as a temperature change.

Is an electric car fan better than the standard?

My new car has had an electric fan put in by the previous owner, in what i believe was an attempt to improve bhp. Now I’m wondering, if this fan efficient or not? I believe it only turns itself on once the engine reaches a set temperature, as to not put a drain upon the fanbelt.

However are there any disadvantages to an electric fan that only spins when needed, as opposed to a mechanical fan which spins all the time?

electric fan is better. this is common on all the 5.0s in fox body mustangs. the theory is to free up less work that the crank shaft has to do by not having to spin a clutch fan. theyre just as effective if not more. one of the best advantages for an electric fan is that it doesnt need a fan shroud and it sits directly against the radiator to cool it better

New electric car created by Bill Gates and friends?

Name, cost, and how to recharge

Well, Bill Gates is planning to invest in building Ethanol plants - but not electric cars - at least not yet.

This may be a matter of confusing one of Microsoft’s software projects, ‘Tesla’, with the Tesla Roadster, an electric sports car developed by the Tesla Motorcar company.

The Tesla is quite an electric car - goes from 0-60 in 4 seconds - 130mph top speed, 250 miles on a charge, and 3-1/2 hours to recharge.

Anyone Know How i can Make my old Car have Electric Steering like these new cars have?

I know theres a motor that runs it but it needs a computer to run it. Is there something else easier? Thanks

no there is no computer that runs it as far as im aware. IT is a rack and pinion system that is a total and complete hydraulic system, no electronics behind it. The pump is inline with the engines belt system and the pump runs as part of the pulley assembly which gives you the hydraulic power you need. From then, the rack and pinion "detects" whether you are steering left and right through mechanics (steering shaft spline connected to the rack and pinion actuator which forced tie rods in and out hydraulically depending on which way you steer. Now, there "might" be an electronic sensor to detect if power steering fluid is low…….

new electric car that doesnt need charging?

my mate is wondering wheather or not his idea is patented or not and if it is a good idea or not.
he built an electric car but instead of having to charge it up all the time he fitted a spoiler and where the wind slip streams through he has fitted mini turbines, it works very well but he doesnt know what to do,
help

You need to call the Nobel people and nominate him for a prize; he’s invented perpetual motion. He can’t nominate himself, that gets him disqualified.

Seriously, can’t be done. Turbines add drag and that darned law of thermodynamics simply insists you can’t get more out of a system than you put in. Adding drag means requiring that much more power to move the car, which already needed power to move in the first place.

Electric cars are like those little electric air fresheners: plug it in, plug it in.
