Are the GEM(little electric cars) legal to drive on the streets in texas?

Yes on the neighborhood side streets but have you seen how Texans drive? Have you seen a Texas neighborhood? You’d want airbags all around you, bulletproof armour plates and glass for the people who’ll shoot at you and carry steaks to throw at the Pitbulls and Rottweilers that are kept as cute cuddly pets. Besides, there’s no air-conditioner in a GEM and that’s a God given right in Texas.

please help me where can i find a cheap gem electric car for under 2000 it doesnt matter how old it is?

faster the better its for a gift for my son. Please under 2000 and it doesnt matter how old it is as long as it works

Not gonna happen.
I recently came across one on a Chrysler dealers web site. It ws 5 years old and they wanted almost $6000 for it. Title showed it was not quite $5000 new.
It sold fairly quick .
Lots of people are lookiing for alternate transportation, so the prices are going to be higher .
A place to look is government auctions as some government entities used them for parking enforcement patrol, maintainence vehicles on university campus, etc.
I will get you a web address and add it to this .

Can you talk down the purchase price after lease is up?

In 2006 I leased a black CTS for $421 a month. Which, after some of you great posters helped me out, seems to be a fair price to pay. but the thing is, it was written in my Lease that I can purchase the car after the lease is up for about $20,000. Can you talk the price down?

I customized the car a little bit. i spent $700 on a paint protection + these two electric boxes that they install underneath the hood that have some sort of ion protection to prevent rust. I only have 11,000 miles on it and it is a 2006! i know they can check things, like mileage, through OnStar (which i don’t subscribe to but the car is still capable). will i be able to negotiate a lower price than $20k? if they check the mileage, i don’t think they’ll budge because it’s in gem mint condition.

is it possible to talk the price down after the lease is up, for purchase? i’d have to negotiate with a bank though and not the dealership, right? because afterall, right now my leased vehicle belongs to a bank and not me. this is my first new car and just was wondering if it is possible to talk down the purchase price listed on the lease agreement? thank you.

First, find out how much your car is actually worth (www.kbb.com or www.nadaguides.com). You might find that the purchase price in your lease contract is already a good price, especially if you have low mileage. It has happened to me.

Some lease companies and banks will negotiate purchase price and some will not. Smaller banks and finance companies are generally more willing than the large captive finance companies such as GMAC, Ford Motor Credit, and such. It certainly won’t hurt to give it a try.

How to avoid translation hazards in cross-cultural brand publicity? Consider these gems.?

1. Locum, a swedish company sent out Christmas cards in 1991, with a logo containing a heart instead of "o" - it became
I (Heart) CUM.

2. Matsushita Electric was promoting a new PC in US market and used its cartoon character Woody Woodpecker, with the slogan "touch Woody’s Pecker".

3. The Swedish furniture giant IKEA thought of the name "Fartfull" for its new range of desks. Enough said.

4. "Traficante", an Italian mineral water company found a great reception in Spain’s underworld because the word in Spanish means "drug-dealer".

5. Umbro, the UK sports manufacturer, had to withdraw its new trainers called "Zyklon" because it resembled the name of the gas used to poison Jews in Nazi concentration camps.

6. Honda introduced a car called "Fitta" in Nordic countries, which translated into "woman’s genitals".

So much heck - how the hell should one decide on a Brand name then@

Also, translation services are pretty expensive. How do small online companies avoid?

That’s a tough one. The on-line translators are a good start and they could weed out some possible choices. But they would not have the current slang terms - these vary from area to area, not language to language. Even a good translator from one country might miss something that’s offensive in another. This crops up a lot.

For example, many years ago I worked for a company bought by Brits. One was in the office one day and went up to the receptionist and asked for a rubber. She turned seven shades of red. He wanted an eraser.

There is no sure way, but one approach might be to work through your distribution network. If they are going to distribute in other countries, they must have contacts there. Run any new names through them and ask them to check at the local level.

Good luck!

None in California./ They have been outlawed. And should be across the United States. No more Diebold Presidents, let us look to elect American Presidents from here on out.

you cant be serious, there is no way to know since they come and go, and give it up. That was years ago and its a moot point. Get on with life and forget it now.
