There is an X-Prize contest for the best high mileage vehicle. But a 1973 contest shows a 300+ MPG souped up Opel already. Are we ignoring existing "hardware", thereby wasting time with a "new circus"? There is also a "Low Amp Draw" electric pickup truck in Vancouver which needs your help, to calculate the MPGE conversion.
Some cars and trucks (series hybrid and electric) are measured in MPGE, not MPG, such as the X-Prize contestant, "eVaro", by the Future Vehicle Techologies company, near Vancouver, which is said to get 275 MPGE.
Another Vancouver vehicle, "FREEB", in the evalbum.com, is shown on Youtube to draw only 15A at 120VDC (nominal, or 128VDC actual) at a constant 45-50 KPH (around 30MPH) on a flat road.
Can you calculate the MPG-E for Freeb with the information above? What is Freeb MPGE compared to the eVaro or a Prius or Tesla?
You can surf for Freeb in Youtube LOW AMP DRAW ELECTRIC VEHICLE 15A 120VDC on a LEVEL ROADWAY.
You can Google for eVaro with a text search for "Future Vehicle Technologies - evaro electric sports car plug-in"
You can also Google for this souped up car, which won a Shell mileage contest: "Opel P-1 - 376 Miles Per Gallon Car in 1973 VideoSift"
among available cars, it would be a two stroke dirt bike, just weight to power, the stroke is of little concern, a carborator, or lower emissions takes room away from a smooth well built engine, since there’s no tube magnet rotor which would be the ultimate mod just using the right hand rule and a transmission obtaining the full meter cube, then there are the tricycle cars. Power to weight, have to beat a geo metro 100mpg car. Also, its not getting up to speed, which is ludicrous of a cheap vehicle to assume, just the weight to power in any conditions. Maybe 200 mpg.
My Norelco gave up the ghost after ten years. Any thoughts?

It is a given fact that gasoline purchases by Americans results in direct revenue and weapons for islamic terrorists in the middle east who kill our troops and devise attacks on our country. This includes any sale of international oil from any other country because that is what drives up the prices for the terrorist-countries, including Iran, from whom we do not directly purchase oil. We know that by improving miles-per-gallon on average a few points, we would be free of non-domestic oil. Now, it is true that many people truly need large suv’s, or trucks, because of a business, for example land-scaping, or because they have 5 or 6 children, etc. But we all see the millions of suv’s, trucks, and sports cars that are simply used to drive back and forth from office jobs and the store, etc, a function that could easily be done with a hybrid-electric automobile (as I do with mine). So, do these people, truly just have a selfish lust and don’t give a damn about our troops and country?
Fact? No.

I need to search something about cars
For example,The Ford Escape,an SUV with a 3.0 liter engine,can Accelerate from 0-60 mi/h in 8.5 seconds
I need to know other cars just like example,, like Compact cars,strucks,SUVs,gas-electric hybrids and sports cars
post webside if you find it thanks ^___^"
I really need to have Acceleration of the car like the example ><"
Best would be to pickup a magazine where they review new cars, usually has the 0-60 time on there. They had a few released since it’s the new year.
I’m building a concept sports car with a 3-phase induction motor. The only problem is the battery pack weight. I’ve noticed that NASA has been experimenting with a flywheel battery on the International Space Station. Also, I’d like to take it over 200mph and still keep it street legal. Expected purchase cost: $1,500,000.00 (the cost will go down). Anyone have any great ideas they would like to add? Sorry–all other information is classified to the public for now.
So your converting a DC voltage (battery pack) to 3-phase AC? You going to lose power to invert DC to AC by heat and the draw of components in the inverter.
200mph is going to take a lot of horsepower. Some sort of transmission will be required between the motor(s) and the final drive. Good luck finding a motor that makes enough torque to move the car a low speeds, but can spin fast enough to have a top speed like that. Think of it like this, how fast can a sportbike engine turn? Most are capable of exceeding 10k rpm, the have a transmission with 5-6 gears…
Good luck with your project…
I follow NASCAR only periodically - I have a favorite racer; however, after researching where the "Big 3" are going with electric powered cars (as well as the other manufacturers) and current initiatives underway by all to develop these cars - I am curious to know if NASCAR will follow suit or will they continue with fuel operated cars.
NASCAR is a great sport for a lot of dedicated fans - arguably can be considered the largest sport in North America. (Personally I am first and foremost an NHL Hockey fan, and as a Southern Californian who went to USC a BIG Trojan Football Fan - sports aside - this is a serious question).
I am looking for intelligent answers here - something that will allow me to do some research for fun. I recently was shown the new Chevy (by the engineer who designed it) that will be out in 3 years - all electric, and I am not big on the "quality" of American made cars; however, I have to admit this one REALLY caught my eye.
Honestly, there is no way in hell nascar would ever race electric cars. Simply because a lot of the nascar expereince has to do with their loud sound and the destinct smell of high-octane fuel.
I could see them perhaps experiment with ethanol sometime down the road, but that’s still a few years away- when it has been proven out in the IRL…but that’s how it’s always been. Indy is more of an automotive innovation testing ground than anywhere else…even the first rear-view mirror was used in the Indy 500.
Low sulfur diesel is proving more and more practical in its uses in autoracing- thanks to the efforts of Audi, who pioneered a diesel motor which has absolutely dominated everyone in LeMans Prototype-ville.
Not to mention all of the costs the teams would have to choke on to develop new engine facilities, practices, and testing. I don’t think teams would like it one bit.
It would be like changing the size of the hockey rink…or shrinking the football down to the size of a baseball…The sports would have to be completely re-defined.
Kinda off topic- but an NHL fan in SC? I didn’t know there was such a thing. Talk about dedication to your sport….90% of nascar fans could take a page from your book….and still not be half as crazy as you.

Also I need to sell my car. I’ve had it advertisied for some time but no joy, so I might have to part exchange.
Mondeo - might be a bit dull, but certainly ticks all the other boxes
Mazda 6 - Mondeo underneath, but a bit less common
Alfa 156 - Stylish
Vectra - on second thoughts don’t bother
BMW - Blends in rather than stands out
Audi A4/A6 - not as common as a BMW
Renault Laguna - reliability might be an issue
Volvo - image issues?
Saab 95 - Be different
I am trying to remember a music video from ‘95-’97 that was electric techno from a one-hit-wonder group. The video had a yellow sports car (maybe a Lamborghini) on a winding road near a sea shore. I have a snippet of this song running through my head and a flash of the image, but I can’t remember what or who for this one.
This is just a guess but could the song be:
Puretone - "Addicted to Bass"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8aVg8s0-H8
It’s an electro-dance song released in the 90’s by a 1 hit wonder band, and there’s a car chase which involves a yellow car.
hope I helped
