They have more electric vehicles.

Do you mean, "Why are we all talking about the future? Electric cars are already available…?"
If so then yes you’re correct. There are some all-electric cars available to buy right now, but they’re either:
A: Very expensive
B: Low Speed Vehicles
C: Have a limited selection
At the time of writing, the only long-range, highway-capable, crash tested fully-electric cars currently available to buy today are:
A: The Tesla Roadster at $109,000 US
B: The Th!nk City at $32,500 US (available only in Europe at present)
C: The AC Propulsion eBox at $55,000 USD
D: The Mitsubishi MiEV at $47,000 USD (available only in Hong Kong at present).
The Greenvh you listed looks promising, but it has a top speed of just 90 km/h (55 mph) and because it has a low voltage (72 volt) system, it would take quite some time to get to it’s maximum speed.
In 2010 car makers are predicted to start producing highway-capable electric cars, but I fear it will still be over a decade before people like you & me can afford one.
Until then, I suggest converting your own gas-powered vehicle to electric yourself for around $2000 ~ $6000.

Chrysler has disbanded a team of engineers dedicated to rushing a range of electric vehicles to showrooms and dropped ambitious sales targets for battery-powered cars set as it was sliding toward bankruptcy and seeking government aid.
The move by Fiat SpA marks a major reversal for Chrysler, which had used its electric car program as part of the case for a $12.5 billion federal aid package.
As late as August, Chrysler took $70 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Energy to develop a test fleet of 220 hybrid pickup trucks and minivans, vehicles now scrapped in the sweeping turnaround plan for Chrysler announced this week by Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne.
We should but we won’t its only money and 0bama thinks that he has an endless supply so he and our spend and spend some more congress won’t even request a refund
I’m having a yard sale in the morning and i’m really having problems pricing the items. I have some really pricey things, but i don’t know if people would even look twice if the price is too high. Could someone tell me if i priced these too high or low? If you were buying it would you pay that for it or more?

Ok so Some of these stuff seems too low for me, but my mother in law was telling me no one would buy it. How do these prices look too high too low?
Also some stuff seems high b/c my husband wouldnt go down, he would rather keep it then sell it too low. And i just realize it put this in real estate even though i didnt pick that, sorry!
She is right. Period.
This is a theoretical question. I believe there are a lot of people who would like to do something to help the envoironment and make a positive contribution, but they don’t know how they could afford to make a real tangible contribution. They are just struggling along financially themselves. Suppose you could join an "Ecological-Network" and have an opportunity to simply talk about viable alternatives in energy systems and lifestyle and make money when the people you talk to also join the Eco-Network? There are no minimum purchases, no inventory, no recurring monthly purchases, no financial obligations of any kind (I hate that kind of stuff). It would be simple….you join by purchasing a "T" shirt or ball cap, coffee mug, or bumperstickers (your choice). They all say something like…"I drive on Nuclear Fusion (Sun Power) Ask me how". or, "There are homes that use no fossil fuel for heating or cooling, ask me about it." When someone you spoke to joins, you get a referral fee. If they enroll someone, they get a referral fee and so do you, etc. through five levels of referrals. The "T" shirts, coffee mugs, ball caps, bumper stickers are all about alternative zero energy homes and electric cars and solar panels. There are companies who offer these alternatives to the public. The "plot" is to make these alternatives known to more people. When someone who joined the Eco-Network found someone who bought from one of the companies, that person and all his referres above him would get a "finder’s fee" based on the value of the sale. You help connect people who are in a position to make a tangible difference in their purchases with an alternative product company. Does that sound like a concept that you think people would be interested in supporting? I just want some input on the "idea" the "Eco-Network" does not exist at this time. www.isomax-az.com has a start on this idea, but there are no "T" shirts, etc. available yet…it’s just an idea…What do you think of the idea?
Not too sure about the fees. Perhaps a concept based on grass roots would be a better network.
Those who can afford to maintain their currant life styles, despite the economy will. Those who can not, will make cuts in their life styles. It is those in between, who are wise enough to know that actual and factual, independence from electric company monopolies, fuel demands and rising costs, plus the economy in the gutter, that you would have the best luck to reach.
I would do it. I did it for a county agency, cleaning up other people’s messes. And promoting a greener life style to children through their schools, scouts and churches.
Maybe, a straight purchase or a donation could be done instead of a finder’s fee. Instead of things that will end up in a land fill, maybe something like the bags they sell at local stores for your groceries, or recycling bags…
It’s a complex issue and goes back through SEVERAL presidents and several Senates and Congresses. You can see ripples coming through from Reagan, Daddy Bush, Clinton, and Baby Bush. There was too much greed in the housing and stock markets. There was no oversight and people who received loans on their houses in the last 4 years should have been counseled and WARNED NOT to get a variable rate loan but the banks were under pressure from Wall Street to WRITE WRITE WRITE more loans and give Wall Street a much desired commodity on which they could make their commission portfolios rise.
Don’t forget about BEHIND the scenes as well. The CFR, the Fed, our leading economists, the "London Loophole", the Ruling Families, Bernanke, Paulson, and President Bush. EVERYONE had a part in this. On September 24, Bernanke started pulling OUT $225 billion dollars from the banking market, in a direct effort to cause a tightening of funds and create a panic that would FORCE Congress to pass the bail out plan and respond to President Bush’s demands that Congress be forced to their knees if necessary to get this bailout passed.
I realize the bail out is important and that it will cause a strangling effect on credit cards, home loans, and the economy if it is NOT passed but perhaps it’s better to take our lumps NOW and get this Depression OVER as quickly as possible. Even CHINA is pushing to get this bailout passed but it is to preserve THEIR investment more than it is a fear for our economy.
What we need to do is tighten our belts. The war must be stopped NOW and efforts must be made on the part of the govt to curtail ALL spending until they can balance the budget for this year. THAT will be a START! NO MORE MONEY for foreign countries … no more money to Georgia … no more money for ANYTHING!
Bush saw the writing on the wall when everyone was SCREAMING to lower the gas prices. Had the govt made efforts to AT LEAST do THAT then the economy would have improved, the market would hold steady, food prices would have stayed firm, inflation would have been brought into check, and things would have still been tight but it would have been manageable. Bush has relied on his bullying tactics for too long. IT’S OVER MR. BUSH! You have broken the treasury. There is NO MORE MONEY FOR YOU TO STEAL! The cash cow has been drained. The Fed needs to restrict the banks. And SOMEONE needs to speak with the Rothschild family in London and get them to EASE OFF!
This CRISIS, as they call it, is being MANIPULATED by the Rothschild Family just as they manipulated France during the French Revolution. Once the PEOPLE recognize that and focus on letting the MANIPULATORS know that there is NOTHING left to manipulate perhaps we can begin to work on this problem.
THE USA needs to have a SUPER CLEARANCE SALE! JET AIRCRAFT …HALF PRICE! We need to show the world that we CAN produce goods at really GOOD prices! We need to start drilling out OWN oil fields and supply the market at prices HALF of what the World market is right now. Our auto companies need to SCRAP the gas guzzlers and IMMEDIATELY start making the ELECTRIC cars and hybrids. How is it that APTERA, a SMALL auto company in Carlsbad, CA can make a car that gets 300 MPG and costs under $30,000 and yet Ford, Chrysler, and GM cannot!
That is ABSURD!
The Tata from India gets 50 + mpg and costs $2,500. Bush wants to waste the environment and scrub all the health laws that have taken 50 years to get into place … why not allow the Tata to be imported to the USA and sold for under $5,000 with SOME of the Federal Safety Standards but NOT all! Remember when it used to cost $2,700 to buy a new Mustang? Remember when a Corvette was $3,500? Remember when an AC Bristol Cobra with 425 horses that got 8 mpg cost $4,000 but gas was 25c/gallon? Those days are NOT gone … they have just been shelved.
WE CAN GO BACK TO THAT ! WE have the resources … we have the factories … we have the skills … but we ALL need to work together.
Don’t buy gas unless you NEED to and then only buy enough to last for a few days. If we STOP buying fuel the prices will come down. Start buying your food at the 99c store and Food 4 Less and Save-a-lot, and Smart & Final and buy the necessities, canned food, stuff that will LAST for a YEAR OR TWO. START TO HOARD FOOD NOW! If you have any relatives who went thru the depression ask THEM what to do! THEY KNOW … they’ve been through it! Instead of buying bottled water for 99c/gallon go to the Geyser Water Machines and buy it for 20c/gallon. When you drive your car use it ONCE a week and do ALL your errands on the same day and PLAN your route on Google so that you can make it as efficient as possible.
Conserve, conserve, conserve.
And above all PRAY your hearts out … not at Church … but every DAY at HOME. WAKE UP Praying to God … pray to Him at lunch … pray to Him at dinner … THANK HIM FOR everything you have and that your family is safe and that life c
My question here is: Do you people agree with me or am I just going rapidly insane here? Does anyone else see what is going on with our govt and the ruling elite and the foreign families such as the Rothschild Family, or am I being sucked in by the conspirationalists? That video above states that the TRUTH is in the Conspiracies that are being spread around? Is that propaganda to support their own issues or is it REALLY the Truth?
Sorry for dumping this in the Philosophy dept but a friend suggested it and said that you guys have the finest minds on stuff like this. I was tempted to dump it in the Religion dept since I like their minds too but I have never heard from YOU guys yet and I’m curious. I know this is REALLY long but I didn’t know how else to word it briefly without loosing the impetus.
This took a LOT of effort so PLEASE don’t violate it or report it for whatever reason and I promise I’ll come in here more often and join in on YOUR discussions.
Thanks
They are trying to stop the take over by the global elites what heroes. the federal reserve is a private bank that created this mess on purpose so the stocks would crash they will then inflate the economy and make billions what traitors. Do not have a tube brain the TV is a delusional soap opera anyone who uses it for info becomes brainwashed and full of idiotic drivel
I’m seriously looking at getting this used 2001 Audi A6 Quattro from a car lot near my house. It’s a tiny lot with about 14 cars for sale, and they all look nice and many are nice brands like Mercedes, Lexus, Jaguar, etc… The owner is a very nice older Indian man and I’ve gone to see the car 3 times, once on my own and twice more with both of my parents separately. The car itself is absolutely beautiful to me, it’s dark blue (almost a purple-ish-indigo color) and it’s got 93,000 miles on it. It runs very nice and of course, it’s an Audi so it’s luxury. The only real problem with the car is the electric moonroof doesn’t work. The owner said because it didn’t work, he removed the power cord to keep it from opening in the rain so now it doesn’t open anymore. The owner recently lowered the price to $7900.
The issue is this:
Is this a good investment? My dad is going to be buying the car for me, and we’ve been worrying a bit about the maintenance costs for the car. We’ve been told that the repairs, parts, and basic maintenance for an Audi is expensive just because it’s an Audi.
Main Question: How much are basic expenses for the upkeep of a 2001 Audi A6 Quattro??? I mean things like oil changes, filter replacements, tune-ups, electrical maintenance, brakes, etc…
I really love this car, lol. I’m hoping the maintenance isn’t too killer to keep me from getting it! >_<
One of my concerns is that the car has alot of displays and buttons. The main display near the odometer kinda has a… glitchy look to the lighting, but what if any of those displays and such stop working? =[ (Electrical problems)
Well, I guess if it’s only in need of tune-ups and such like 2 times a year, then okay… but if these cars have a reputation or anything for being glitchy, I’d like to know!! Thank you all!!
that car is a money pit/i know you are in love with it but/ those sun/moon roof is a capsule/ it comes in one big piece and the headliner has to be removed to repair/if you have any problem with the car it has to go to audi/no spare parts around and body shops have first crack at them in salvage yards/to fix a door lock on this car is 400-500 at a dlr and god forbid you need parts and you have to wait. unless you are buying one from an audi dlr with a bumper to bumper warranty stay back.. t hey have defective automatic door lock actuators /a plastic piece breaks and i had a guy that was locked out of his car and spent over 600 to get it fixed
How many people do you think would have bought an electric car when gas was at $4 per gallon? How many would buy it today? Especially considering the sales of the Japanese hybrids and GM’s attempt to make the volt?
As the worlds largest car company, GM had ample chances to be a market leader in new technologies, instead they gave in to making a short term profit and introduced such gems as the H2 and an array of SUV’s. Now they are on their first generation hybrids when the Japanese are relasing third generation hybrids, as to the Volt, I’ll believe it when I see it.
Some time ago I saw an article about an internal combusion engine (ICE) powered generator on a trailor that was towed behind an EV (electric vehicle.) This seemed to be an intriguing solution to the problems of range to an EV and the problem of having to put a large ICE in a vehicle only to cover acceleration. I could easily see a transport solution of EV cars for sale and ICE gen trailors for rent for those out of town trips. Here are the cites:
http://www.evnut.com/rav_longranger.htm
http://www.acpropulsion.com/tzero_pages/tzero_Gallery.htm
Slaps, how would a regen braking trailor work? Are you talking about an electric vehicle? Why then would the vehicle not incorporate regen braking within the vehicle which would always be useful. The advantage of a generator trailor is that it can be unhitched for around town use. You would only need to use it for long trips.
Do you have a cite that discusses your suggestion?
Sadly, if based only upon the interest here, I would have to agree that generator trailors do not seem to have a following.
I think few people want to tow trailers. More likely to be widely adopted, IMO, are regenerative braking trailers pulled behind semi-trailor tractor rigs.
i have a triton shower that has been causing problems and picked up a used one from a car boot sale for use as spares….unfortunately the pcb board is faulty on both……..now my shower has the live and neutral wires and 2 earth wires that come out of the wall and connect to the earthing bolt..the one from the car boot which is the same shower has an extra earth strap around the brass conex fitting that attaches to the shower inlet and the earth bolt which the original does not have in place……….i want to know if this is necessary and if so have i been showering in a shower for the past 5 years that has been dangerous ( due to the fact the extra earth strap was not fitted?)
i have just bought a new triton jade 2 shower which has the same inlet point and electrical connections and plan to replace it myself as i am quite competent at DIY so wish to know should i fit the extra earth strap to the water inlet…..thanks
i have a mlti meter.would it be correct to check the resistance between the 2 eath wires that come out of the wall to see if they read 4 ohms as suggested by the first post?
the water inlet pipe to the shower is plastic
Earthing rarely causes anything other than increased safety and I know of no circumstances when earthing correctly has done otherwise. You can not overearth but you can underearth. Please do it and check the earth loop impedance. If you can not test it then get some one who can and find out what it should be first. That person needs to be a registered electrician. Good luck from an retired electrical engineer.
I recently acquired a dilapidated electric guitar from a car boot sale for a negligible cost, and am having trouble finding anything about it, it’s brand is Wilson, but I can’t seem to find much useful information on the company at all. It’s a flying V design, although cruder than any other design I’ve ever seen, and about as elegant as a bulldozer, it’s heavily damaged and would require a lot of repair if it was worth it, I have only seen a question on here about a folk guitar coming from a WIlson company, but there were no clues in the answer that helped at all.
I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this guitar make, it appears quite old, and has had both it’s ‘wings’ snapped off at some point, and glues back on.
Don Wilson, of the Ventures group started the Wilson Guitar Co, and still make the Wilson Venture Model. I know they made some different styles back in the early 60’s, but I don’t recall ever seeing a flying v. Any possibility it might have been a demonstration model which never made it to production? Go on-line and look up Wilson guitars, send them a letter and a picture, and see if you get a response. You may have a one of a kind collector piece…….. or a nice wall hanging. Good luck!
