Early this summer, McCain proposed a $300 million reward for anyone who can design a more efficient electric car battery. I have not heard anything since then, what happened? was the contest canceled? Where was he getting the money?
Cindy spent it on her outfit for the convention
What happened to McCain’s $300 million efficient electric car battery contest?
Can I use a car battery on an electric scooter?
Can I use a car battery on an electric Scoot N Go Scooter???
The two biggest problem is size fitting and voltage difference. If your scooter use 12 V (same as cars) then you only have to worry about getting the larger size battery to fit.
===
The poster above says you’ll fry your scooter. That’s only if the voltage is wrong.
Another poster above says you’ll need a "regulator". Regulator are fully called VOLTAGE regulator and if the voltage is the same, then you don’t need regulator.
Good Luck…
is a generator able to power a electric car?
by using gear reduction, could a generator recharge electric car batteries?
yes, they used generaters long before alternators. but to completely power a car? there’s a weight/power produced ratio that has to be looked at. the heavier the car, the bigger the generater and the more batteries needed. the bigger the generater and the number/size of the batteries, the more weight on the car. it’s incredibly inefficient. that’s why they’re looking at fuel cells, solar, hydrogen as alternatives. also, what’s going to power the generater? it cannot produce enough power to charge batteries, run the car and power itself.
A better question: Did Texaco / Chevron Waste their Money on Obsolete Car Battery Technology?
The technology purchased by Texaco / Chevron electric car battery was based upon, NiMH technology. This at that time was perty good. However, on reading about the Tesla and Lightning electric cars it appears that much greater performance can be gained from Li composite or ceramic technology.
Your comments on this or even more advanced electric car battery technology will be appreciated
And their batteries that they supplied for the Saturns were just recalled yesterday!
The special Large format NIMH for transportation use (F cells and bigger) have been kept off the market and Lithium Iron Phosphate is about to overtake it.
At the time, Chevron thought they would corner the market on recharging and swapping batteries at their service stations.
Oil companies know less about batteries than anyone, or they wanted to keep them off the market. Stupid or Evil, take your pick.
my two watts worth
How much to replace battery in electric cars?
They say 4 or 5 thousand right now to replace them but probably the more of them they build the cheaper it will get.
If cold weather weakens the battery in my car, and it does, how does it affect an electric car?
Electric cars use a different battery technology that the lead-acid batteries found in a gas powered car. These batteries run so hot that they require their own cooling systems. They would probably love cold weather.
I live in central Canada ( -40F last week ) and my neighbours Prius never skipped a beat.
Can I run an electric waffle iron off a car battery?
If we can plug a gamecube into a cigarette-lighter power adapter and run it without trouble, can we do the same with a waring pro waffle iron? i cannot find the amperage draw for either the gamecube or the waffle iron, but i can’t believe that a simple waffle iron would draw that much power.
we’re trying to be the hit of a scout campout next weekend. if they could plug an extension cord into the car, run it into the scout house and make waffles - it would make a sleet-filled overnight memorable.
thanks!
All you need is a power converter that converts 12 volt dc (car battery) to 120 volt AC (house electricity) and your cooking waffles….( might want to leave the car runnign while your cooking so you can crank the car when your done)…
Battery-less electric car? what do you think?

opinions? there are more vids like this too btw
Bogus….
The terminology that he uses shows a lack of comprehension particularly when describing how his "magnetic" motor differs from traditional electric motors, which apparently he believes have injectors and crank shafts. He even contradicted himself with the transmission, claiming that he didn’t have one and then shifting to bring down the current draw. You could also hear the rpms drop when the light was switched on so it could’ve simply have been running off the momentum like a flywheel would. Besides, it’s dated 2007 and he claimed to be a year away from market so where is it now?
Instead of Battery powered car; why not Electric Car.?? Small engine running Gen. - Running Elec, motor. ?
That’s the Chevy Volt, using Locomotive technology and it actually makes sense!
is there a way to create an electric car with two batteries?
so you have an electric car with 2 batteries, you charge 1, and then you use the rotation of all 4 axles to charge the other. obviously, (there would be turbines or what ever one uses to generate power attached to each axle) when battery 1 is used, switch, and recharge. This seems so logical, so why is in not being done
You can do a test yourself get a small generator and a small motor and a set of batteries it won’t cost much.
But I can tell what’s going to happen, assuming your generator is 90% efficient and your motor is 90% efficient you only get back 81% of the engery you put in. That not counting the engery needed to move the car. So under ideal conditions you lose 19% just turning the motor and generating electricity.
It’s been tried and it don’t work sorry.
